Kimberly Hendricks

Chief Soul Officer

Director of Deep Breaths and Big Hugs

Kimberly Hendricks is a lover of people, a soft soul, with an open heart, wanting all that enter her presence to feel loved and deeply cared for. She is a licensed massage therapist, birth and postpartum doula, breastfeeding counselor, yoga teacher, and the proud owner of Be Loved Bodywork and Yoga Studio.

Her husband Matt, is her partner in every adventure and the steady calm to her wild heart. Kimberly is the mama to four deeply cherished daughters. Chloe, Jocelyn, Farrah and Silvie are her greatest teachers, being the mother to these incredible young women is her most honored role.

She loves the mountains, long hikes, and any excuse to be outside. Knitting keeps her hands busy, audiobooks (yes, it counts as reading) keep her mind full, and riding on the back of Matt’s motorcycle keeps her heart a little wild.

Ashley Erickson

Chief Feel-Good Officer

Director of Good Times & Great Ideas

Ashley is a natural storyteller. Her wry sense of humor and unfiltered candor are guaranteed to entertain and are sure to get a laugh. As with most things in life, she takes a direct and unapologetic route with her narrative. This is what draws people into her story. By being raw, relatable, and real.

Until a few years ago, her story was like many others; married, working, raising a son…and then everything changed, and her story became tragically, uniquely, her own. In October 2022, her husband, Jeff, passed away after a sudden illness. The traumatic rollercoaster of events during his short illness is almost hard to comprehend.

In the months that followed Jeff’s passing, she knew she had to make use of the painful transformation she was experiencing. She had to tell the story; the one about love. The love she and Jeff shared, the love Jeff felt for their son, the love he had for life. Most importantly, the love that fills the space created by profound loss, the kind that holds us up, and puts us back together. The kind of love that sounds like laughter and tastes like tears. The love that keeps us in our life when all we want to do is get off the ride. The love that reminds us that it’s never too late to begin again.

She first shared her story on Cara’s 1 Year 1 Fear podcast and plans to write a book about loving and losing her person, then losing and finding herself. Her aim is to help others understand their unique experience of sorrow and grief but also to find incredible meaning in life after loss. Ashley lives and works in Coralville with two of her great loves – her son, Jack, and their dog, Bugsy

There’s something powerful that happens when women gather—when stories are shared, walls come down, and we realize we’re not alone. I’m honored to be part of this weekend with you.

I’m a woman who has lived a little, loved a lot, and experienced the pain of loss. I’ve learned that none of us are meant to walk this journey alone. My path starts in the small town of Humboldt, Iowa, where I was born and raised. I moved to Des Moines after graduating high school and met my husband at work. We married and embarked on raising our family together. Over 20 years ago, we took a leap of faith and relocated to the Iowa City area. It has been the community our children will always call home, even though they are now grown and establishing their lives elsewhere.

Like many families, our story includes seasons of joy and seasons of loss. Along the way, we experienced the death of three of our four parents and walked closely with a young man and his family who bravely battled cancer for a year. We also said our goodbyes to our beloved dog Lucy, a true family member. These life-changing experiences reshaped how I perceive time, love, and things that really matter.

In the midst of life’s full and sometimes overwhelming chapters, a rim-to-rim hike through the Grand Canyon became an unexpected turning point in my life. What I thought was going to be nothing more than a physical challenge became a true transformative experience. I created a personal goal to hike all of the U.S. National Parks, but more importantly, it awakened a desire to live fully in the present. I wanted to embrace the life in front of me today, and to stop waiting for someday.

Today, I am passionate about choosing presence, finding beauty even after loss, and saying yes to the dreams that stir our hearts-no matter our age or stage of life. I believe we are not meant to merely endure our days, but to truly live them.
